What is the PROP Shop?

The PROP Shop is an exciting resale store and nonprofit serving the southwest suburbs. The store is full of quality clothing, household items, and furniture for sale to the general public. The PROP Shop is primarily staffed by over 350 enthusiastic and helpful volunteers. Find out more about our staff and board.

The PROP Shop's priority is helping families in need through volunteers and community. Community members donate gently used clothing, household goods, and furniture that are then either sold in the resale store or given directly to families in need. Everyone is welcome to shop and proceeds from the resale store are used to pay expenses. Excess funds are donated to local organizations helping low income families like PROP (People Reaching Out to Other People, the local food shelf and emergency services provider) and Meals on Wheels. Free clothing, household items, and furniture are available to families in need by referral through human services organizations.

Why a Nonprofit Resale Store?

Many families have clothing, household items, and furniture they want to give away. Other families have a need for these items. The PROP Shop provides the perfect place to make this happen!

Giving Back to the Community

Proceeds above general operating costs will help provide financial support for local organizations serving people in need like PROP (the local food shelf and emergency services provider) and Meals on Wheels. In its first three years, the PROP Shop has donated $23,500 to PROP and $2,000 to Meals on Wheels.

The PROP Shop also provides service opportunities for adults and teens who want to volunteer and become more involved in the community.
